Garfunkel: A Simon Paging Companion app for iPhone and iPad

Garfunkel is an application that allows quick and secure access to the Emory SimonWeb Paging System. This app is specifically for use by employees and staff of Emory Healthcare, Emory University, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, and Grady Memorial Hospital. A valid username and password are required in order to use this application. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APPLICATION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VALID USERNAME AND PASSWORD FOR THE EMORY SIMON PAGING SYSTEM.

Garfunkel allows the user to:

- Send messages to Emory Simonweb Alphanumeric Pagers
- Search the entire online directory
- Create a favorites list for frequently used PIC numbers
- Call pagers signed out to phone numbers directly
- Access and Review a log of sent pages
- Rapid page screen for fast entry of PIC number and message details
- Spell check and autocorrect work seamlessly on your pages as you type

A recent study of pages sent to surgical residents found that over one third (34.44%) of pages were sent without any useful information regarding the purpose or urgency of the call (Espino S., et. al. J Surg Educ 2011). Garfunkel allows users to easily send detailed messages allowing the recipient to appropriately triage pages. Further, another study of hospital paging systems found that physicians waste approximately 45 minutes per day sending pages (Ponemon, 2013). Garfunkel can reduce this wasted time in several ways. First, users no longer need to call the operator or locate a computer to send a page. Pages are sent directly from their iOS device. Second, Garfunkel operates on both WiFi and Cellular networks so you are never out of touch. Finally, Garfunkel sends pages directly through the hospital paging system avoiding potential delay with email messages.
